How does health insurance tax change?

Until 2023, if you were a resident of Romania and your yearly dividends was over 6.000 euro, you should have paid health insurance tax of 600 euro. Starting from 2023, this tax will have 3 brackets, instead of just one: at 3.000, 6.000 and 12.000 euro.

How does your tax on dividends change?

Once your Romanian company starts making profit, you can take out money from the corporation as dividends. Dividends can be paid once per year or once every 3 months.

THE FARMERS: THE NEW LAW FOR THE AGRICULTURAL LANDS’ SALES CONFUSING THE LAND MARKET

The President of League of Associations of Agricultural Producers in Romania (LAPAR), Laurentiu Baciu, believes that the new law on land sales between individuals does not cover issues of cadaster and the costs they will face municipalities.

"It was not taken into account that there are many lands without cadaster, nor succession is made and where it sells a smaller area of land then the costs are too high relative to revenue," said Baciu at a meeting with members LAPAR.

RDP 2014-2020: FRUIT GROWING ARE PROVIDED FUNDS TOTAL OF 260 MILLION EURO

Conversion program in horticulture has provided total funding of 260 million euros in the new RDP 2014-2020, of which an amount of EUR 40 million will be allocated to processing and marketing of products obtained.

Lidl to Roll out 14 Romania Stores in 2014

German retailer Lidl, which entered the Romanian market in 2011 by acquiring Plus supermarket chain, will open 14 new stores this year, ZF.ro reports.

The chain will keep its last year's expansion pace with the goal of having 183 stores at the end of the year as a result of strong growth in sales and the number of customers.

"We will keep the last year's expansion pace and open stores in many areas of the country," said Maksymilian Braniecki, Chairman of the Board of Lidl Romania.

Austria’s Egger has completed a 83MW Romanian biomass plant

Austria's Egger, the wood processor, has completed a 83MW biomass plant at its site in Romania's Radauti, Suceava County, following a EUR 35 million investment, reports business daily Ziarul Financiar.

The new plant is designed to provide heat and energy on the site, and is fueled by wood waste.

Honeywell opens factory in Ploiesti on Gov't-granted aid of EUR 16 million

US company Honeywell Transportation Systems on Oct. 8 opened a factory at the West Park Industrial park of Ploiesti, Prahova County, southern Romania, on an investment that is planned to reach 57 million euros by 2015. Chairman of the Friction Materials Division of Honeywell Rainer Bostel told in a press conference that out of the 57 million euros to be invested by 2015 in the new factory that manufactures brake pads, 16 million euros was aid from the Romanian Government approved in 2011 to be paid up as the investment advances.

Solar park to open on 65-million-euro investment

Wind energy production doubles in first half of 2013

Energy production in the wind power plants stood at 2.413 billion kWh in the first six months of this year, increasing 1.226 billion kWh from the similar period last year, according to the data released by the National Institute for Statistics (INS) on Aug. 8. The production in thermal power plants accounted for 12.140 billion KWh, declining 26.4 percent. The hydro-power plants generated 15.9 percent more energy, reaching a production of 8.494 billion kWh. At the same time, the nuclear power plant of Cernavoda produced 5.663 billion kWh, by 3.8 percent more.

New provisions on industrial parks

Law no. 186/2013 on establishing and functioning of industrial parks (“Law 186”) has been published. Law 186 repeals the previous legislation (i.e. Government Ordinance no. 65/2001) and introduces new provisions, such as: 

Industrial parks are classified based on the activity performed (greenfield industrial park, agropark, technological, innovative, etc.) and the authorisation method (industrial platform and existing industrial platform).

 

Over EUR 44 million to be invested in Constanta Port upgrade

Upgrading infrastructure works worth more than 44 million euros (over RON 200 million) will be conducted at Constanta Port, following a decision taken by the Government on June 12. "The finalization of the intervention works will increase the safety of port operations and stability of docks in the south of the port and it will increase the capacity of Constanta Port, in general.

Romania's land could be an important source for implementation of biomass projects

Bucharest, May 15 / Agerpres / - Romania's arid land could be an excellent source for biomass projects, and our goal is that, by 2016, to implement 350 biomass installations that can create over 10,000 jobs throughout the country, said in a press conference, Ilias Papageorgiadis, President of the Romanian Association of Biomass and Bio-gas ARBIO. "The category of unproductive land, the so-called fallow land, can be an excellent source for biomass projects across the country, while it cannot anyway be valued as agricultural land.

142 km of motorway due for delivery this year

A total stretch of 142 kilometers of motorway will be opened to traffic this year, with the first delivery due this May, on the Deva-Orastie segment (northwest of Bucharest, Hunedoara County), which is part of Corridor IV, Minister-delegate for infrastructure Projects of National Interest Dan Sova told the ProTV broadcaster on May 12.

H.Essers Builds Romanian Distribution Center

Belgian logistics services provider H.Essers started construction of a distribution center on a 50,000 sq. m land plot near Bucharest on January 14, the company announced. 

Total investment in construction of the facility is estimated at about EUR 12.5 mln. The project, due to be completed in October, will have an area of 33,000 sq. m, with an option to be extended to 100,000 sq. m. 

Suntech and SunSystem announce joint solar power plant ventures in Romania

Two international solar energy firms are to collaborate in Romania on a 25MW solar power facility. Suntech and SunSystem have signed an agreement for the project, which will be developed in partnership with local company RoEnergy. Suntech solar panels will power two new photovoltaic projects under construction in Romania that will be connected to the national grid by the end of 2013, according to a joint press release.
 

Wind energy developer foresees more projects in Romania, describes investment environment as attractive

Romania could look forward to two years of increasing investments in wind farm projects, according to Monsson Group, a major wind energy developer in the country. “There’s a window of opportunity and anyone who hasn’t invested or committed to building these projects should consider doing so quite quickly, because otherwise they might miss this window,” said Monsson Group chairman Arne Osbourg, quoted by Bloomberg news service, in a presentation in Bucharest today (January 15 ).

Spanish Copisa signs EUR 8 mln contract to build new wind farm in Romania’s Dobrogea

Spanish construction company Copisa will build its third wind farm project in Romania, after landing a EUR 8 million deal for a wind park at Chirnogeni, in Constanta county. The Spanish firm will work for five months and install 32 turbines of 2.5 MW each, as well as a 25-kilometer access road.
This is Copisa’s third project in Romania, after building the first two phases of a wind park in Mihai Viteazu, also in the Dobrogea region. Copisa runs its own subsidiary in Bucharest.
 

GE lands USD 30 mln contract for new wind park in Romania

General Electric will supply seven wind turbines for Energia Verde Ventuno's Cerna Wind Park in Romania's Tulcea region, GE announced. The deal is worth some USD 30 million and includes equipment, the seven turbines with 17.5-megawatt total capacity and service contracts. GE also signed a 10-year, full service agreement to support the operation of the Cerna wind farm.The wind project is expected to generate enough clean energy to power approximately 7,000 Romanian households when it becomes functional later this year.

Romania should plan an agriculture strategy for at least 25 years - rural development romania 2014 -2020

Secretary of state with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development Achim Irimescu, responsible with the technical directions within the European Union, says in an interview granted to Agerpres that Romania should have a strategy for agriculture to span at least 25 years from now on, where several major points should be set.

Changes in several Ministry of Finance orders regarding VAT

Local elections set for June 10 this year in Romania

Romania will organize local elections on June 10 this year, according to Mediafax, quoting official sources. Last year, Emil Boc’s pre-protest Government, assumed responsibility in the Parliament for organizing joint local and Parliamentary elections. The country’s Constitutional Court however ruled that joint elections would be unlawful.
