Romania has joined the European Union. Since January 2007 the Romanian state improved the mobility of Romanian workers throughout Europe. Per year more then 4 million workers are performing works in foreign countries. The quality of being a member state within EU entitles the citizens of these states to benefit from the four fundamental liberties, for instance, free movement of citizens (persons) which implies also free movement of workers.

First, to start a business in Romania we need to know where is placed the Romanian taxation system in relation to European and world context.

This, because there is a substantial difference between the new Member States and the "the old states”, from UE (Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Estonia etc). In many of the countries that joined the EU in 2004 income tax was reduced lately, Romania passing directly to an income tax cut.

Starting this week, the Romanian companies may lodge with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business Environment (MECMA) investment projects on enewable energy generated from natural resources; the European Union and the state budget allocate 100 million euros, in all, for such projects.

According to the MECMA data supplied to Agerpres, the small firms can benefit from cofinancing worth 70% of the project's value, at the most, while the big companies may get 50 % of it, at the highest.

Each body has its requirements when it comes to be „eligible" for the correspondent subsidy.

There are business travel subsidies in Romania. There are subsidies for opening an office in Romania ... etc. ... etc.

It was a pleasure to give an active support to the Belgian Connection in 2008 and 2009. When I look back I can only say that Frederik, Pascal and Luk and later Marie-Jeanne managed to put a platform that is now an established value in Bucharest.

I met Luk and I was charmed with his efforts and persistence to develop the Belgian "drink" in a networking platform in Bucharest. We created a name and the result is a unique formula and a new way to network and to invite clients and friends on the events of the Belgian Connection.
