Eight more foreign banks interested in Romanian market

Another eight banks in the EU have notified the Romanian National Bank (NBR) about their intention to provide services directly on the Romanian market based on the European financial passport, despite the current troubled international environment. Aegon Bank, Raiffeisen Stras-Spielfeld and Nord LB Covered Bank joined the list of institutions interested in the Romanian market in the first three months of the year. Additionally, three institutions specialised in issuing electronic currency - PSI-Pay, Vincento Payment Solutions and Smart Voucher Limited, have submitted notifications to the NBR. Aegon Bank is a division of Dutch insurer Aegon, which is present on the Romanian market via a pension fund and a life insurance company. According to its notification, the bank is interested in attracting deposits, providing trading services, portfolio administration and custody of financial instruments. The bank is not interested in lending operations.
